Chocolatey, creamy keto Bulletproof® Hot Chocolate is a great alternative to Bulletproof® Coffee or a tasty treat on a cold winter day. It’s low carb and refined sugar free.
My inspiration for making this hot chocolate recipe is that today (January 31st) is National Hot Chocolate Day. Plus, it’s freezing all over the country, including here in Okieland, and is supposed to be one of the coldest New Year’s Eve’s in history. So, why go out tonight and freeze? Instead, how about staying home where it’s warm and cozy? Light a fire and make yourself a cup of hot chocolate. Hot chocolate is the perfect wintertime drink.
Granted, this recipe is a bit more effort than opening a packet of sugary mix, but it’s worth the effort as it’s much better for you. I used Bulletproof Chocolate Powder, which is designed to be low in toxins and high in super food goodness. Chocolate is good for you as it’s full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and biochemical compounds. What usually makes chocolate not so healthy is all the sugar, bad fats, and added chemicals. You don’t have to worry about that with this recipe.
Chocolate also boosts your mood, according to the National Hot Chocolate Day website:
When we drink hot chocolate, its chemical compounds signal the brain to release endorphins and serotonin, which elicit our feelings of calmness. These neurotransmitters work to reduce pain and stress, keeping us worry-free and happy! Hot chocolate is clearly happiness in a cup.
I even tried making my own healthier Homemade Marshmallows. However, after all the effort it took, I don’t recommend you try it.
You could have fun experimenting. Try a Mexican hot chocolate by adding extra cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg and cayenne. Or gingerbread–add cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, ginger, and molasses. Or add some peppermint.
As it’s New Year’s, you could even add a little extra something and make it a hot toddy.
Have fun and enjoy!
